An impacted colon is the result of years of fecal matter building up along the colon walls. It causes the colon to have such a small opening, stool cannot move through the colon like it should. One of the key indicators the colon is becoming a problem is constipation. A person may not be able to have a regular bowel movement for days or weeks. Bloating and abdominal pain may also accompany the constipation. If a person strains too hard while trying to have a bowel movement, it may cause hemorrhoids or rectal bleeding. If a person who has been constipated for several days or weeks has a watery stool it is a good indication, there is fecal impaction. The watery stool is leaked around the impaction, and is not actually a bowel movement.
